Well, following the footsteps of American Airlines, Tiger Airways will start to charge passengers for check-in baggages:
S$5 - up to 15kg
S$15 - up to 20kg
S$20 - up to 25kg
S$40 - up to 30kg

Reason being: "the new charges will ensure that passengers travelling without checked baggage will always get the lowest fares"

arh?!

since when "passengers travelling w/o checked baggage get lowest fare" is the rule of the game? y don't just charge by BMI? "passengers travelling w/o obesity get the lowest fare"...

everyone knows becuz of the exploding oil prices, budget airlines are feeling the pinch and they want to offload costs to consumers... y, u can always rebate those wonderful fellas who travel by hand luggages only, while the rest get the original fare right? i'm quite sick of "brainless" reasons which sound so noble...

ya' know? when HK's 2 rail companies, KCR and MTR merged last year, not only the new company promised no fair hikes outright, train fares were slashed 5-10% even though more train trips were planned.. convenience to commuters was emphasized, rather than cost incurred (i dun care whether they really mean it, at least they bother to emphasize n make consumers feel good)..

goodness... i just want to thank God a million times over...

y? my dad originally planned to go to Yunnan, China for holiday TODAY... but last week, the tour cannot materialise; reason: the tour agency could not get the flight tickets to Yunnan (due to whatever reasons)..

i tot it was quite a stupid reason; May is not the travel peak, and Yunnan isn't exactly the most popular destination for holiday... but well... *shrug*

then come the BIG Sichuan earthquake...

Sichuan is immediately up north from Yunnan, and Yunnan too suffered considerable damage due to the earthquake... so if we're supposed to depart today... we also dunno what to do... cuz the tour agency will most probably say "it's fine to go" so that u'll initiate the cancellation... and then we have to forfeit the tour fee...

there's another reason y it's good the trip got cancelled.. but i wun reveal here... heehee

actually, the first time a proposed holiday trip was cancelled by the tour agency was in 2006... and a couple of days before the supposed departure date, my grandpa peacefully pass away... if we cancel the trip them on our own then... there'll be NO refund at all...

WOW. God's really in control... everything just fall into place!

Of cuz, let's keep the victims of the China earthquake and the Myanmar cyclone in our prayers...

contrary to popular beliefs, this time rd, my trip's not going to be all 买东西吃东西买东西吃东西...


for me, this hols in general, will be a time:-

to care, to accompany, to assist when i'm in hk...
to realise i'm not a child anymore n there's nowhere to hide...
to cheer, to uplift and to smile even when things seem to go wrong...
to say sorry, to soul search and to get things right all over again...
to think, to reflect and to plan wad's ahead...
and
to pray. lots and lots of it.

i've never felt so apprehensive in the first few days of my hols.
